Pinspired Wine Bottle Crafts

I think plenty of us have been hit by the Pinterest craze, and I am definitely guilty.  I am also guilty of having plenty of empty wine bottles piling up in my apartment that have yet to make it to recycling. Instead of taking them to the trash, I feel pinspired!  Here are some crafty DIY projects for those drunken, leftover bottles.

Torch: A definite upgrade from your usual tiki torch and it will only cost you about $5!  And since Minnesota’s state bird is the mosquito, this is definitely on my to-do list as summer is only a few short months away.  With only 10 pieces and 7 steps, its a DIY project most of us can handle.  Check out Design*Sponge for directions.

Candle Holders: Another simple and totally doable project. These two are definitely my favorite.  You need to find the right candles for the bottles to your left and the one to the right you’ll just cut the bottom of the bottles off.  Watch this video on how to cut a wine bottle.

Vases: A definite replica of the tiki torch, but instead a vase for the inside of your home.  Another idea for a vase is to just cut off the top of a wine bottle – to make it super cute you can etch the glass with whatever design you like.

Cheese Tray: Fire up the kiln!  You place a wine bottle in a kiln for 8 to 10 hours to get a flattened bottle.  Don’t have a kiln near by?  No worries, you can find these cute trays available online to buy.

Chandelier: Wine lightens up our lives in more ways than one.  Here Oregon Live shows us how to make this stunning fixture.  You may need help from your electrician if you don’t know how to install the box but any wine lover will enjoy this in their home.
