Wine Gifts for Newlyweds

It’s wedding season so you are overloaded with finding the perfect gifts to give to the happy couple(s). And sure you can go on their registry, click on some mixing bowls and be done. But why not share your love of wine? It’s the gift that keeps giving (at least that’s what we like to think)

Monogrammed Beauties: It’s a great way to personalize a gift. A beautiful decanter would look great on a home bar or buffet. Or this fantastic silver champagne bucket will keep the bubbly perfectly chilled. These two beauties can be found at West Elm.

Picnic for Two: Not only is this wine picnic basket a cute and creative gift, it gives the newlyweds a fun date idea for the future. They’ll be sipping wine and spending quality time together all thanks to you! Check out Picnic-Basket.com.

The No-Fail Shower Gift:  Here is an adorable DIY gift for those wine-lovingbrides.  It is a wine poem basket – six bottles of wine, each tied with a decorative ribbon and labeled with a different poem celebrating an occasion in the couples future.  For example it could be for their First Dinner Party,  First Anniversary, or even their First Baby.   Find this awesome idea here!

A Thoughtful Hostess Gift

In search of a thoughtful hostess gift? Give the gift of wine. Yes, many of you think of wine as a default, or last minute gift; however, just because it is convenient doesn’t mean it is any less thoughtful.

So how do you go about picking out the “right” wines? With dozens of grape varietals and prices that that range from two dollars to a couple hundred, it can seem daunting. Before you start your search, narrow down your options to help pick the perfect bottle.

1) Celebrate the gathering. Bring your favorite celebratory wine and explain this to hostess to put her at ease.

2) Bring a bottle that has significance. Is your hostess environmentally friendly? Bring an organic wine. Is the host Italian American? Bring an Italian wine like Chianti.

3) Be original! Purchase a lesser known wine. Discovering a new wine is exciting and makes a great conversation piece. Also, no one will know how much you spent on the bottle.

4) Pick up a dessert wine. Everyone always brings a wine to go with the main course so the hostess will appreciate the change. A bottle of Port or a Riesling will go great with the sweet treats!

Whatever bottle you decide to choose, hand the bottle to host so he doesn’t wonder if it is suppose to be opened that evening or not. If you didn’t intend for him to open it, mention you brought this for him to enjoy at a later date.

Be sure to check out MyWineDeal for your fabulously thoughtful hostess gift.
